Marit Stables have experienced instructors who teach a wide variety of disciplines. Marit offers a variety of lessons for all age groups, starting at six years old, and all skill levels, from beginner to Grand Prix. Essential skills and “Code of Conducts” are taught to create a solid foundation for every rider. Instructors have strong morals and ethics, which work in the best interest of both the student and their equine partner.

Cost of Lessons
  • Private lesson - $60.00 + Gst = $63.00 / 40 min 

  • Group lesson - $45.00 + GST = $47.25 / 60 min​​

  • Hunter/Jumper - Private or Group

  • Dressage - Private

  • Western & Trail –Private or Group

  • Working Equitation –Dressage, Ease of Handling and Speed Phase

  • Driving – groundwork moving into vehicles - Private

  • Basic Horse Handling - Private

  • On Site – Horse Show Warm Up preparation- on demand

  • Clinicians are promoted pending opportunity and demand of current Marit Students.

Beginner Riders
  • Beginner riders 6 years of age and up are welcome. 

  • Marit Instructors will assess new riders prior to engaging in a lesson program, bring your own horse to learn on. 

  • There are a number of solid lesson horses available to suit your personality and riding level.  



Introductory Riders
  • Introductory riders will learn; the basics of grooming their horse, proper turnout, barn management, horse health, parts of the tack, and posture for riding. 

  • Riders will learn to mount a horse then will proceed to learn how to halt, walk; turn on the forehand, trot and canter. Development will progress as per their commitment, determination and dedication. 

  • Note: Every student is encouraged to progress at their comfort level.


Children's Lessons
  • Children need to be 6 years old with parents or caregivers that support their love of riding. 

  • Helmets and proper clothing, footwear are mandatory while on the property.

  • Guardians are required to stay on the property during children lessons. 

  • We found that young children learn best in small peer groups.

  • We have a number of child safe lesson horses that will support your little equestrian. 


 Competitive Riders
  • We will teach riders “real basic ring etiquette”, how to strengthen their mind, core & body before competing. 

  • Personalized riding goals and lesson plans will be developed for each competitive rider.

  • We have many developing riders in our barn competing throughout Alberta, BC, and the USA in all disciplines every year.

  • If you are an athlete looking to move-up, improve your technique, challenge yourself we at Marit  can make you a Champion.

  • We have experienced Grand Prix level coach/trainers that will help you set goals and win.

  • Marit family prides themselves by developing horse and rider partnerships. A rider will become a great horseman/woman and gain valuable training tools as they develop their competitive edge.

  • Lesson times can be throughout the day can be irregular depending on the weather, student & coach’s schedule. 

  • Evening lessons are quite often after students are finished their work or school. 

  • Weekend lessons are organized around the show season but are available.
