School Horses

Solid safe school horses are the foundation of Marit Stables.  In order for a new rider to develop their riding skills and build up confidence, safety is paramount.  Every school horse at Marit Stables has a calm disposition, kind heart and patience. They all know their job and are steady, solid mounts that have miles of teaching, handling and lengthy show experience under them.   When a rider is ready and wants to participate in a horse show our schoolmasters behave in the show ring like they were at home.

Sausage

MAX

Maximus - 20 years old, 17.2HH Chocolate Bay Holsteiner gelding with lots of chrome. Max was imported from Germany, shown in the USA and the star of the barn. Once riders experience the joy of jumping over fences they all want to ride Max. He has been Champion in the 1.30M and 1.40M division. Max sails over the jumps with confidence and clearance that thrills whoever is on his back. A large puppy dog personality, which helps riders build confidence as they collect ribbons in the show ring.

RainDrop

Raindrop is a miniature horse. She is a young & a small miniature horse for her division. We all wanted to have a miniature horse to play around with at the barn so we bought her.  Raindrop loves receiving attention, meeting new friends and she’s very fun for the little children to lead around, brush and pet.   We use Raindrop to start teaching children on how to halter a horse, lead,  where to stand, be safe, so they are comfortable around horses. Raindrop has also trained many grandparents on the basic fundamentals of horse handling.  We get a thrill out of her pulling her little cart around our yard and skijoring behind her in the winter. Raindrop is our forever school pony.
